Bringing Fall’s Warmth & Vitality Indoors
From left to right Autumn colour inspirations from Sherwin Williams Canada and Fusion Mineral Paints:
1. SW Roycroft Bronze Green 2. SW Mature Grape 3. SW Red Barn
4. Fusion Mineral Paint Prairie Sunset
The Autumn colour palette provided by the vibrant colours of leaves to images of the harvest is my favourite time of year. In order to celebrate this season it’s time to take long walks in Nature and take note of the vast range of colour offerings. Take photos and return home to decide which colours will be incorporated into your seasonal interiors. Bright colours of reds and golds to deeper shades of rusts, browns and dark greens co-exist for a reason. Days are shorter and temperatures are cooler in northern climates. While deeper shades are in sync with our bodies slowing down in the coming Winter, vibrant hues give us the energy needed during this transition. Have you ever wondered why burgundy and maroon are popular in table settings and decorative accessories during the colder months? It’s because they include elements of blue and red colour energies.
Your Project:
Once you have made your photo scrapbook for seasonal colours, move to a room where you will introduce your seasonal palette. My favourite next step is to visit the websites of paint companies such as:
sherwin-williams.com/en-ca/colour
fusionmineralpaint.ca
Will you start with small changes such as table settings and decorative accessories, paint a feature wall or bring new life to furniture pieces?
For DIYers it’s a great time to be creative. I am also a fan of colouring books and offer these two online sources for digital downloads - search Canadian sites Pinterest or Crayola for free seasonal downloads to get your creative juices going.
